Before You Start

This DAI Signalscan User's Guide is written for design engineers who analyze and verify circuit designs.

Document Organization

The DAI Signalscan User's Guide is designed to help you get up and running with Signalscan as quickly and easily as possible. The following briefly describes each chapter of the document:

"Introducing DAI Signalscan", reviews the primary features and benefits of Signalscan.

"Getting Started", walks you through using the main functions and windows in Signalscan. See also the Quickstart Guides, which you can display from the Help menu in Signalscan.

"DAI Signalscan Windows Overview", describes each Signalscan window and its panes, menus, buttons, and mouse functions.

"Working with DAI Signalscan", guides you through a more in-depth session of how to use Signalscan features.

"Advanced Features", describes some powerful but less common Signalscan features.

"Interfacing DAI Signalscan to Your Verilog Simulator", explains how to use Signalscan with a Verilog simulator.

"Using Signalscan and VHDL", explains how to use Signalscan with VHDL.

"Analog Features", explains how to use Signalscan with an analog simulation.

"DAI Signalscan Command Language Reference", describes each option of each Signalscan command.

Style Conventions

Typewriter

Indicates typed user input and screen output and file, directory, and path names.

TypewriterItalics

Identifies variable and scope names.

Key

Identifies a keyboard key for you to press, such as Enter , Shift , Delete , or Ctrl (Control key).

Ctrl+x

Hold down the Ctrl key while you press the x (or other) key.

Button , Menu , or Menu Option

Identifies a button, menu, submenu, or menu option for you to select by clicking your left mouse button on it.

Menu>Submenu>Option

Select Menu , then select Submenu from Menu , and then select Option from Submenu .

Italics

This word or phrase is important.

Glossary

This word is defined in this sentence or paragraph.

abc is an optional parameter

one of a, b, or c is required

selection of a, b, or c can be repeated

one of a, b, or c may be selected

The parentheses are required here. Syntax characters within single quotation marks are required characters.
